All surgeries and are by appointment. Appointments are booked at ten minute intervals. Please note that appointments are for one person only. We cannot safely manage multiple problems in ten minutes. If you feel you require a longer appointment please let us know.
If you need to be seen urgently, please call early. However, the ‘phone lines tend to be busy at the start of each day, so if the matter is routine, please leave your call until later in the day when you are more likely to get through without problems.
Our staff are specially trained to fit you in with the most appropriate consulter, be it a doctor, nurse or healthcare assistant. Please help us by being prepared to answer a few general and non-intrusive questions regarding why you need to be seen.
Due to the huge increased demand we have seen in recent years and with no extra GPs, we are afraid that patients can wait up to seven days for a routine appointment. Conversely, if a patient needs an urgent same day appointment we guarantee that the patient will be seen the same day. This service is triaged by a GP or nurse practitioner who will use their clinical experience to decide if a problem can wait or be dealt with on the phone. This ensures that patients get an appointment to suit their medical need.
Anyone registered with us may attend either the main surgery or the branch surgery. Most of the doctors and all of the nurses work at both sites.
The Practice Nurses are available during normal surgery hours. They operate an appointment system. Among the services they provide are well-person, asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, epilepsy, heart disease, mental health, stroke, thyroid, cancer and lung disease clinics. They also provide family planning services, travel immunisations and treatment of minor injuries.
Clinical Support Worker
The Clinical Support Worker is also available during normal surgery hours to provide services such as blood pressure checks, blood tests, dressings, stitch removal, ear syringing.
If you wish to speak to a Doctor or Nurse on the telephone please call (01870) 602215. If they are not available to take your call immediately they will phone you back as soon as possible.
A member of staff will be available to chaperone the doctor during certain types of examinations. If you would like a chaperone present please ask.

Escort Authorisation – Hospital Appointments
An escort will only be authorised for hospital appointments according to the Western Isles Health Board’s Patient Travel Policy. All escort authorisations are decided by the doctor, who has to abide by the rules of the travel policy.
