Hospital appointments 

We often get asked about appointments in hospital, to look for results from tests ordered in hospital, or to write sick lines for hospital stays. In general, these services should be provided by the hospital; please phone your consultant or their secretary for enquiries about tests, appointments and sicklines arising from a hospital appointment or stay. We have prepared the following guidance for patients, to help you get the most appropriate help promptly.

Escort Authorisation 

An escort will only be authorised for hospital appointments according to the Western Isles Health Board’s Patient Travel Policy. All escort authorisations are decided by the medical director, who has to abide by the rules of the travel policy.
