 Attend anywhere

Because of the pandemic, we have changed the appointments we offer, and suspended on-line bookings for the surgery. We've been seeing people face-to-face for quite a while, and at the moment, just over half our appointments are in the surgery. The branch surgery has reopened but the building is very small and social distancing is difficult in the waiting room; please do not attend without an appointment. We still need to keep footfall in the practice down because the vaccine is not 100% effective, and not everyone has had a full course of the vaccine.
We've made our appointments a bit longer so that we can clean our rooms between patients. We've put on more appointments, to take into account that patients may need to come in, after discussing their problem on the telephone. We have also become more adept at telephone, and VC consultations, and simple email enquiries. Some people prefer them, as they are more convenient, especially for people who live some way away, or who are working.
The way we are working at the moment is that there are a range of options for appointments. In order to manage demand for appointments, the administrative staff will need to ask a few questions to ensure that patients get the right sort of appointment with the right person first time. If you contact the practice for clinical advice, these are the options:
  • A telephone or VC appointment with a GP
  • A face-to-face appointment with a GP
  • A telephone of VC appointment with a nurse practitioner
  • A face-to-face appointment with a nurse practitioner
  • A telephone appointment with a pharmacist
  • Coming soon - an appointment with a first-contact physiotherapist.
If you are not sure, a telephone consultation may help plan tests that can be done before a face-to-face follow-up.
